Bitcoin's paper was that good. Simple. Easy to read. Easy to replicate (a poc in python is easy) It is a recent key innovation (the blockchain tech).

Actually MIT was modelled from the French "École Polytechnique". In a same way like the white house was a copy of "Château de Rastignac".

This reminds me of a relevant XKCD, https://xkcd.com/1838/ Given the shown technique to build a state of the art neural net, I wonder what QA will look like and if we will be able to reach a sufficiently low probabilit

Well MacOS (an Windows) have built-in ones. MacOS has XProtect between other things like app signing. Also note that for Spectre and Meltdown 3rd party antivir had kernel patches delayed as they can become sort of an issue.

I lived in SF for a couple years near TL and I saw people doing it on the streets. To me this site is a good thing, harm reduction policies have shown good track record. They work. A good exemple is the "première ligne" associatio

That may not impact the mining speeds that much as most integer operations would then be done using floats. Also mining speeds are way more bottlenecked by memory speeds than GPU speeds these days.

I peeked at the source code of the shaders, it looks like it is metal for the web. I don't get how a closed API like metal could be the future of an open internet. Yet it can start a discussion.

You might want to check out "Turbo code" It approaches the channel max capacity and is the basis for modern cellular internet (3G/4G). It is also used for deep space communications, where squeezing every bit is essential. The

Yes, I knew you could do rowhammer on arm too where clflush does not exit. So rowhammer is not the correct example. Yet at some point it was believed that it was necessary on x86 for the attack to work. https://en.wikipedia.org&#

It is not, but if like it was the case for rowhammer, it was linked to a specific instruction (clflush). This time it could be an AVX512 instruction (intel only) that leaks kernel address in a way or another. I was talking from an ISA persp

Do you think this could be within the rather new Intel AVX 512 ISA or older intel CPUs like Sandy Bridge (first AVX chip) could also suffer? - edit - I checked Ryzen ISA, they support AVX2. So probably AVX512 is the issue.

Ok so all I hear is Intel and no trace of AMD? So X86_64 ISA wise the only diff between modern CPUs are AVX512. I bet you within the foundations of AVX512 lies a nasty one that can't be patched with microcode update.

It feels a bit more risky than mining in a pool don't you think? If a validator pool is hacked you loose your stake. The equivalent in PoW world would be someone breaking in and leaving with all the GPUs of all the users of a pool, wh

I'm reading the paper looking for an answer. (as I'm hopping to be able to run a PoS node in the future) As I understand PoS, for security to be achieved, you need to be able to lose a non trivial amount of ether. I guess the 1K5
