Bravo! Thank you for the full story. Would fusing many tightly coupled Gs (lots of send's and recv's to each other) into a larger G by transformation into a state machine be a way to reduce scheduler overhead? Of course, you may n

I hear you on expressiveness of using the language. Of course (and as you mention) the strength of restricting the expressiveness is that it becomes decidable in some amount of acceptable time for most programs. I agree with your last senti

Yep you are totally correct. I only point this out because the tool presented here does not do the same thing as other contract systems, but could (as you say) be used as a building block to get there.

I think many may take your response as a bit off-the-cuff, but I share this sentiment. You could even go so far as to write the longest C program you could dream of to solve it, then simply feed it into tr -d '\n' and call

To be fair, they are comparing it to a dual-socket CPU; which is twice as fair as comparing to a single!! What I was getting more at was: I want to know the relative performance compared to another 8 Tesla box. I know comparing apples isn&#

AAM was one of those things that made me say, "wow this is really cool" the first time I saw it. Luckily, I got to see this presented by Van Horn in class at UMD. Link to the PDF of the associated paper http://www.cs.um

This only seems useful for user-defined glsl types. The builtin glsl types would only have to be written out once as D types. The general idea of "importing" types is a good one and I think this is what F# achieves with type provi

I've been thinking a lot about source code transformations as a possible key for maintenance in the "future" of programming. Its interesting to see that the preprocessor, which is a source code transformation itself, makes ot

Very cool idea. One thing I think is often overlooked in comparing brains with computers is that while they may be ahead on efficiency and density, computers win on many other metrics eg. They are easy to reprogram, they don't need sle

Lemire's work always pops up in regards to high performance or data compression. The paper is interesting and I learned about a new field of math. I especially admire the FOSS implementation of the theory, which is often missing from m

I don't think it's a good choice to link directly to a file like that. Perhaps an article on the release would have been better.
