That early time for me is to focus on my body with exercise. A lot of time in this industry we forget about the body because our mind pays the bills. It's not sustainable.

Not really. Much of the research doesn't focus on the electrophysiology of single neurons, but rather how networks are impaired and what causes the impairment.

Both. Because neuroscience is hilariously complex and a big "fuck you" to neuroscientists. Computation happens at many levels - among dendrites, among axons (some neurons have multiple axons as well!), axonal branches, within the

That's oversimplified and usually how it's taught at the undergrad level. Neurons and especially the networks they form are more analogous to analog electronics, but both analogies end up failing at some point.

Controlled experiments generally (especially in cases like these) still only show correlation.

I live in that neighborhood, and as the article says it looked like it was mostly a ton of turnover. There's a lot of it on Newbury, which is a problem in its own right, and the places that remain are largely regional and national chai

Timespan matters. If businesses repeatedly don't do well, yes you get your 'fun' upper middle class variety, but the people trying to get a foothold and start businesses will fail and, with the lack of a real safety net, like

Anecdotally, when I experimented with these, that's basically how I felt - it was very reminiscent of my imagination when I was much younger. As I started studying neuroscience, especially in grad school (I specialized in attention and

This isn't the only possible (and not even a likely) outcome of walkability, lack of need of cars, and localization. It's just exploiting the quirks of the SC engine to max out population with a lot of commentary slapped on to it.

I don't read anything about OP's post as saying they think people should memorize or that this practice is okay, as evidenced by their final sentence that it's sad that you could do so and pass many technical interviews.

The system as it is requires experts to review - peer review isn't "let any random person review" so I'm not sure leveraging the Internet in the traditional sense is the way to go. There are scientist social networks, bu

It would probably help if you read the research. That's the lowest hanging fruit, I guarantee you any published paper (in a real journal, as this one was) handles that in one way or another - e.g. there are ways to give evidence for ca

Pretty much every time someone complains about the whole correlation != causation thing, it's a huge red flag that they didn't read the actual research or have no experience in academic research. It's easily accounted for and
