The export works fine, I just did it about a week ago. Lies, on Reddit? Shocked pikachu face.

All personal stories on Reddit should be assumed to be lies. I can’t believe there are people out there taking anything on it seriously.

I’ve been using DDG for.. 9 years? Something like that. I’ve noticed that too with ignoring the quotes just in the past few months. I don’t know what happened. Also it seems to sometimes throw in my location information when I didn’t ask.

I’m never going to remember a domain with a silly tld. I don’t necessarily think badly of the company when I see a link to one (I mostly think “fuck you ICANN”) but it is anti-memorable.

This should be the Reddit motto.

Wow, a Gawker defender. I thought all of you had slithered back under your rocks years ago.

FYI, downvoting to disagree has always been ok on HN and the mods have reiterated that many times; first pg and then dang. Wherever you got the “down arrow is not an indication of agreement” thing, it wasn’t here. See: https://ne

It’s a recent addition to the HN guidelines, but it’s there now, and I think it’s a good one: don’t complain about name collisions.

More to the point, coffee grounds are terrible for drain pipes. Do not put them down your sink unless you enjoy paying plumbers more than you need to.

The same thing that happened to Lotus and WordPerfect: Microsoft drove them out of business.

I'm guessing "name collision" is the "I thought this was about [something else]" comment. E.g., an article about Pliny the Elder and people saying "I thought it was about beer". https://news.yco

The question is how do you stay active when you have to go to an office. Being active while working from home is easy.

If you're going to continue the government contracting route, know that government agencies (not just DoD) love certs. Have never done Network+ but I did another similar one that allowed a short (maybe 1-2 hour) refresher course to ren

Thanks for the great service. I used to have all my registration through Dyn (nee DynDNS.org); when they got bought out by Oracle and started moving everything over I moved to Namecheap. Been perfectly happy since.

That's pretty high. The default assumption about any personal story on reddit is that it's all lies.

Of course it's worse. Anyway, I haven't used Google for many years at this point, so whatever. However very recently I'm now having issues with DDG -- seeming to ignore when I quote things, returning only tangentially related

Hadn’t heard of rtings, but just checked it out. Looks good for what they cover, but their categories are mostly useless for me. The reason Wirecutter used to be good was because they reviewed everyday items. Also I had sort of forgotten Wi

+ to Dark Reader. Can’t stand most websites without it. Not sure how we switched from a dark screen to wanting everybody to stare into a bright lightbulb all day, but I’m glad things are finally going back.

It's also not 1988 anymore, so the "Religious Right" is about as relevant as the Free Silver movement.

The secret ballot is normally considered a cornerstone of democracy. Mail in voting completely destroys that. In my jaded perspective, that’s exactly why certain people and organizations love it so much.
