Those planes probably have 3 or 4 engines. For 2 engine cross ocean flights there are definitely rules about distance from a landing option.

I don’t know. I feel like screen time is a misnomer. From my anecdata less social media more sleep is the key. If my screen time is reading a kindle or learning programming I doubt the impact is so bad. Of course anything taken to an extrem

Looks like the lense is wide-angle so it's hard to tell if is really moving "up" and away relative to the horizon.

If you use the "duplicate workspace" command on an open solution with multiple projects then you can debug separately projects simultaneously.

Note he said 100hz not mhz. Essentially 100 times per second the message queue would process but if you moved the mouse it would process faster.

I have yet to see this addressed by anyone in favor of such restrictions. Essentially we go back to a pre-internet economy.

Isn’t that what they were trying to do? Reasoning that the MCAS failure mode was runaway trim and the fact that pilots are trained for runaway trim? (Obviously in reality this reasoning is flawed)

I can’t watch the video at the moment, but I’m of the understanding that the manual wheel actually easily overpowers the electric trim motors—-that it is simple to stop them from spinning and not to difficult to manually spin them as requir

Should be fine for any pilot qualified by US standards. Not sure about other countries. I have anecdotally heard that some other countries train pilots as "button pushers" without really understanding what the plane is doing or ha

Agree, if the AoA sensor had been properly maintained and/or the MCAS was able to better handle a faulty sensor this could be mitigated. Also pilots should be made aware of the characteristics of the resulting mode of stabilizer trim r

I agree, but I see the reasoning. MCAS failure leads to runaway trim for which there is an established and well known procedure to fix--in the checklist almost 50 years. For a problem with trim you flip the trim cutout switch. Doesn't

Yes cost is a factor. The alternative might not be feasible economically. I don't think the failure here was reusing the 737 design, but the downstream due diligence of implying no significant changes. I also think airline training is

Since MCAS and autopilot are two different things and MCAS is only active when autopilot is off I think it is faulty to assume that something that disables autopilot would disable MCAS--but in the heat of the moment I can see room for confu

Not a really a hardware flaw--a design choice/hardware compromise so that existing 737 infrastructure could be used. The low ground clearance of a 737 is one of its main selling points. It's customers have a large investment in in

This is false. The CFPB rule only prohibited mandatory arbitration. It still allowed for voluntary arbitration if an individual preferred that path in a dispute.
