This is one way for Microsoft to get into the IoT game. It'll be interesting to see if their ARM port is useable on the new Raspberry Pi.

Nice update, and still at the $35 price point. Too bad it's still ARMv6. It would be nice to have ARMv7 which is where all of the high performance stuff is. Edit. I take that back, it will be ARMv7 arch. Other articles state that th

I picked up a lot of printers for free that were orphaned from windows vista, 7, and now windows 8. They worked fine under linux, without any monkeying around. Free printers due to windows updates. Great stuff!

This is brilliant. Love your description of the different platforms. I really don't think today's Ubuntu desktop is any worse than Windows. In fact, the Unity desktop is much easier to use than windows 8, which is thankfully go

I haven't tried cygwin in quite a few years, but I hear that it's improved a lot. Still a large installation though, but very useful if you must use windows.

When I saw the headline, I thought, "Oh no, I hope they didn't implement the MS Ribbon?" Thankfully they didn't. That MS bug still trips me up whenever I fire up Word. Looks ok, I don't really notice much, mainly

This is huge. There are so many approaches to cross platform mobile development, yet none of them really make it easy to integrate a full stack web platform. This is one step closer.

Interestingly, a lot of the parts discussed are still in wide use today. Much of the concepts are necessary for understanding circuits and how they work.

If MS threatens something like that, you'll probably see a large scale migration to desktop linux.

Strange, but most people I know really can't stand windows 8(.1). Some have been beaten into submission by being forced to use it, but if anything, they'd prefer to go back to windows 7 or xp. I may be a linux user, but that'

If anything, Nadella presents a vastly different attitude from MS than the previous CEOs. For one thing, I haven't seen the incredible arrogance towards other companies and technologies that MS has had in the past. Such as when Ballm

It seems to me that the focus at HN is on startups that aim for huge growth, and not really small businesses; especially not small, stable businesses that don't have much potential to grow very large. The subject of the article is a s
