Clickbait, but _good_ clickbait :) I do so love good deep technical blog posts that dig into why something works a certain way, and the title is a legit statement based on the initial cause. Thanks for writing this!

Yep. The Redux core `createStore` function can be distilled down to about 25 lines [0], and the rest of the core lib can be added in another 75-ish [1]. I've seen Redux described as "a pattern with really good documentation"

React _requires_ that you know Javascript. The better you know Javascript first, the better you'll understand React as you learn that.

FWIW, we have a new official addon package called Redux Starter Kit [0]. It includes utilities to simplify several common Redux use cases, including store setup, defining reducers, immutable update logic, and even creating entire "sli

I'm a complete React fanboy and fully engaged in the React ecosystem, but I'd like to speak up in Vue's defense here. Yes, there's some obvious copying going on here, but this is not a bad thing! There's been a lot

Hi, I'm a Redux maintainer. There's a much better solution than what this blog describes. We've just released a new package called Redux Starter Kit [0], which is meant to provide opinionated defaults and simplify writing co

Literally, _throwing_ a Promise. React will catch promises thrown during rendering, and treat that as a request to "suspend" the component and come back to it later once the promise has resolved.

Right, and as a _current_ Redux maintainer, I can also assure you that Redux does nothing to solve those problems :) Redux is simply a synchronous external data store. It does nothing in regards to how you fetch your data. While React-Red

"Fiber" was the rewrite of React's internal render logic (primarily how it processes the component tree), and was released in 16.0. It's named after the data structure that is used to track individual pieces of work (ro

Rendering becomes interruptible. In Concurrent Mode, React will split the work of a single render pass across multiple chunks as time exists within a single frame, yielding back to the browser as needed to let it process events. Once the wh

No worries. The complaints about it not being readable on mobile are legit. If I could wave a magic wand and make it all magically responsive, I would. But, my original goal was simply to actually make the slides for the presentation, and

As I said down-thread, my only immediate concern when I put the presentation together was presenting it from my own laptop. I appreciate that folks are wanting to read it on mobile, but I've got a lot of stuff on my plate (primarily w

Agreed on all points. We happen to be in a situation where we have very long development cycles, and also rarely need to go back and rebuild older versions. So, in our case we could get away with this. And yes, the speed improvements came

You don't seem to actually understand how Redux works. All interactions revolve around "dispatching" an action to the store. The root reducer function is called as part of that `dispatch()` sequence. This gives a central po

One of the core points of Redux is that all the state update logic gets combined into a single reducer function. How you choose to split the reducer logic into multiple files is up to you, so it may be separated in _that_ sense, but it
