Alan Joyce did say on business TV channels that cancellations of flights was a move to boost flight prices BTW [1]. Which is also a bit "richer" with what you outlined at the end. My personal opinion is that Qantas is also doing i

A note here: The Bourne Identity, Supremacy and Ultimatum are based in books (which have a better, richer and kinda different story when compared to the movies ). I would reccomend having a look at them.

you know what...i am amazed that noone picks up that we have a planet scale network that could be exactly that (conscious)! The internet! we all send packets of information to various systems that then amplify thst data to other neurons...

Funnily enough we do have those laws for the old.telephone service we used to all use (in aus). Sadly the internet was classed differently and avoids all that regulation...

Yeah, I would get that battery replaced... if it ruptures, that's a metal-air fire that you do not want your parents to deal with....

You might be right on this. I have written a lot of rust and a fair bit of network code, but I never went near async. I'm not exactly sure what my problem with it is, but I started writing rust before async was a thing and always felt

I was going to write a diatribe on rusts great features, but I don't have time. Please go try rust, not for its memory safety but for all of its other qualities that make it better than c++ in my book.

That is true, there are people who use an ISP modem/router but what of the ones who don't, what of the android TV or phone is that doesn't get updates, what of that winxp/vista/7 computer that won't be upgraded

Yes but boomers were born after World war 2 (1945) ... The great depression was 1929 - 1939... Before WW2.

I used to work tech support for an ISP years ago.... Trying to get people to find their modem and see if it was plugged into the wall was effort. Imagine trying to get the same people to upgrade router firmware...... no chance

To be honest, I like the idea. I have used night trains in Europe before and they are a great way to travel and save a day when on holiday. The one thing they really need. To get right is the bed needs cannot be perpendicular to the directi

Yeah, IIRC the show runners were contracted to do a star wars movie... They wanted to wrap up GoT and move on to that. Sadly, I think their failure to finish GoT properly screwed their star wars movie ambition too.... Edit: spelling

I am happy for you. I once liked c++ but after years of writing it professionally. I am done. You have to fight c++ to get things working which obfuscates problems in the code. Safety comes from simplicity -- c++ is never simple. I could ra

That is human nature though. We deny things we know are true if we feel guilty. It is easier to attack that admit. Sadly we are still at the whims of evolution. We are all sadly not as evolved as we think we are and more importantly we do n

It all depends on the what is the shortest path to ground. Ground is also a relative term for a lightning strike. When lightning hits the ground, a potential field emanates from that point. The further out the closer to 0V the potential dif

It could if it was still part of the lowest resistance path to ground. Electricity is like water, it wants to flow from high potential difference to low potential difference. Lightning (as far as I know) does not have consciousness and is
