I got 'constituent' when I tried it too. That begs the question, what happens when you accidentally try to go to an expired url that has been reassigned? Like say you hit a url 1 minute after it's expired, and with bad luck it's been rand

Costwise this kind of depends on where you're going... overland bus travel in Asia is much cheaper than, say, taking a train domestically in Germany. But I totally agree on the schedule part. Every time I've booked in advance something has

When I started development on scribophile.com I was in college and working part-time. I had maybe $5000 in the bank. My big financial risk was paying a freelance graphic designer $100 for a few FB-like gift illustrations and laying down $

I call it cargo-cult because Shuttleworth makes UI decisions like "move the window buttons" to semi-emulate OSX, but seemingly without doing any research as to why such might succeed or fail. Originally they were even in a different order-

I have a several-year-old Dell Vostro 1400, completely stock, and as I mentioned in a different comment, every distro update since Hardy has broken something that used to work. Intrepid broke wireless--I had to swap out my Broadcom wifi ca

Agreed. Shuttleworth & co seem more interested in tweaking visual desktop stuff (window buttons, windicators, indicator applet, etc.) than actually making sure their software is as bug-free as possible. Every time I upgrade to the new

I don't use rubygems myself so I'm just commenting as a spectator. But I think it's very reasonable to ask that if someone (anyone) discovers a bug, then the right thing to do is to report it. They don't have to fix it themselves; maybe

I'd say the big thing that defines a timeless game is the story and atmosphere. Chrono Trigger, for example: fairly mundane RPG gameplay, 16-bit graphics, but the fantastic story has made me replay it several times over the years. Or one

I didn't downvote you, but my perspective on the 'if you want it fixed, do it yourself' thing is this: I've been tinkering with computers for a really long time. I've had some fun times messing around with Linux, tweaking it, getting it se

If I remember correctly corner resizing has been a bug for something like years (no time to look it up now). It's especially annoying when using a trackpad, but nobody wants to bother to fix it I guess. I can't believe this is something t

To be clear, the threading example was just something off the top of my head, not an actual real-life example. Though the PHP IMAP library is not thread-safe, so the problem would be fixing that library (or learning the guts of it to work

Too bad most mega-corporations aren't as concerned with writing good software as they are with staying on budget, meeting deadlines, and making money. Not to say the two are mutually exclusive, but BigCorp isn't going to want to pay for yo
