App launch is a unique situation: you can only do it once. As such, pre-launch advertising is always unproven. You would have to have high confidence in the integrity of the ad network. Since online advertising is essentially untrusted, w

It’s the foundation of a lot more than just physics. It’s absolutely crucial to economics and business, and it is a travesty that it isn’t a required part of lower division curriculum. You cannot grasp micro/macro/applied/bus

I think understanding that “relation” means the relationships of attributes to a primary key is a crucial, foundational concept. Without it, you can’t properly understand a concept like normalization, why it arises, and when it applies. You

If by "better" you mean "more profitable search engine, the user be damned", then sure. As a user, I've found Kagi is much better than free search engines. With DuckDuckGo, I often found myself reverting to Google

“Arises” and “comes from” betray a crucial error. Our rights do not come from the constitution; the constitution merely recognizes our rights.

Of course one can advocate for violence without participating in it directly. For example, you could call for a riot. Or for the death of someone directly. No reasonable person would confuse “the traitor should get the death penalty” with “

Calling for someone to be shot is a call for violence. Calling for a trigger to be pulled is not. The death penalty is a legal ruling that is often not even the final decision.

Strictly speaking, I think calling for the death penalty is advocating for a legal ruling. The violence following such a ruling is a second-order consequence.

Turns out it wasn’t enough. What we were just barely starting to grasp then was that, among the “other users” we need to be protected from, were the software vendors themselves. In other words, I am not a single user; the combination of me

Two relations with a one-to-one relationship implies identical primary keys. Most implementations default to creating an index on the primary key. In this case, the premium user table only needs the user id primary key/surrogate key be

I generally agree when it comes to standalone software, but not for libraries. SQLite is both. Setting a compiler flag is reasonable for the common case where it is included as a header file in a C/C++ application. It is certainly inco

Why is it desirable for art to have "authenticity and realism"? Nowadays, those terms are just code for the malevolent and disturbed world view of some creators. I prefer art that depicts life as it could and ought to be.
