Does anyone use Sway (or a tiling wm) mostly with graphical applications? Sway is tempting since it supports some niche features other Wayland compositors may never support, like cursor hiding à la unclutter and real redshift. I use a termi

I wasn't clear: I meant in the computer box. Most boxed cables will say "charge cable" if they are USB 2.0-only, including Apple's, but there's nothing when you open your new computer. It could at least have a lab

Yes, if you buy it standalone. But what about in the computer box? I've opened a lot of MacBook Pros, and I can't remember seeing any labeling.

A lot (most?) charge cables are USB 2.0 — just enough data to negotiate the higher power. If they supported faster data too, they'd be more expensive. But it definitely should be more clear! Apple's minimalism doesn't help in

GNOME has left and right (no corners) by dragging and Super+Left/Right. Recent versions can even drag the middle border to resize both together!

Bandcamp is another option. They have multiple download formats, including FLAC. Lately I've been seeing more albums from artists on ("major" indie) labels, not just self-released.

My question exactly: did MS change Office to get in the Mac App Store rules or did Apple change the MAS rules to get Office in?

You need one copy somewhere else! What if there's a break-in or the roof leaks or whatever? My low-tech solution is two external drives, one of which is at my Mom's place and gets swapped every month or two.

We usually stay in one place for 1+ week, and we usually eat out for lunch but eat breakfast and cook and eat dinner at home, except a few nights out. So the kitchen is essential for us!

They're going to make all-electric (and hybrid) options. What the headline first made me think was that the whole lineup would be all (=only) electric.

Font rendering is a funny one. Some distros were limited by patent issues, but Ubuntu has looked great for a while. Now Apple removed subpixel anti-aliasing in 10.14. This may look better on hidpi, but lots of us still have non-retina Macs

It should be a feature of the OS/desktop environment! MacOS has this feature (in the Help menu), and I've seen proposals to add it to GNOME. I thought KDE was also going to add it via krunner, but I haven't seen it yet.

Too bad the CD format makes it difficult to get a perfect rip. I prefer a FLAC (or WAV as I occasionally see) download over CDs, but CDs are my second choice, especially for older albums with used copies available.

My partner has an XR and loves it. Granted she upgraded from a 5, so anything would've been an upgrade, but she likes the button-less X design and excellent camera but had no interest in the super high-end XS.
