I mean, no offense, but your tone comes off as an "I told you so" anti-alcohol comment, so I'd be careful criticizing others for their decisions. As other comments have mentioned, there are often plenty of enjoyable, social

Reading the HN comments, I didn't get the same "defending alcohol" feel you did. I think many (most?) people understand there is some risk. But, there's also risk in driving a car, eating red meat, or not sleeping enou

Fair points, though I don't share your enthusiasm about wayland/pipewire transitions being "temporary." The fragmentation that Wayland has caused will be difficult to recover from - I think many older WM's will jus

I mean, x1 carbon (new) isn't much cheaper (in fact, more expensive, at the time of my googling) than a MacBook Air. The linux ecosystem (which I love) has it's own fair share of problems - gnome vs. KDE, deb vs. rpm, X vs. Wayla

"everybodies life easier" I don't think this means what you think it means. I'm not a dev, but a mechanical engineer, and having to shutdown nightly, and reopen things the next morning, would cost the company at least a

I'm a current Linux Desktop (plasma) user, who is really tempted by this machine, given my 6 year old thinkpad is showing it's age. I'm not sure I can get used to MacOS's window management, even though the rest of the O

Just to clarify, it seems that most people are getting much more than 2hr on their framework - are you referring to something else?

Personally, I have a minimum expectation, but beyond that, it moves a lot lower on my priority list, too. I wouldn't accept 2 hours, but once something hits 5-6, it's usually GoodEnough for my case (though, I'm not OP). Of

I would have thought most linux users are, since most mixers (plasma, gnome, etc.) afaik haven't been ported to pipewire? My experience was that installing pipewire-pulse (and, removing pulseaudio) caused my mixer to continue to JustW

Odd, I own this exact laptop, and haven't experienced any suspend/resume issues on either debian 10, nor 11.

Sorry, typo - it should have said Android 11. I agree that it MIGHT happen at some point, but it's an example (IMO) of how bad the Android ecosystem is, compared to apple. This phone really makes me believe OnePlus is definitely more

I'd love to believe that, but I'm a OnePlus owner who bought in with the "promise" of major OS updates for 2 years, and security for 3. My device (a 6T) crossed the 2 year mark in November, with no sign of Android 11 in

I don't know, the "benefits" have been well preached for years, and I don't see NixOS gaining popularity (though, I tend to focus on the linux community news, so might be missing the visibility). To me, NixOS is a cool
