I use Jprofiler and I'm no stranger to using profiles but some issues with Clojure's performance aren't fixable with a profiling session.

I think you are right and I'm annoyed that you are. Because I think JavaScript is a really hard language to master. Ubiquitous yes, versatile yes but so full of cruft and bad design decisions that it really can put many people off prog

I fell in love with Clojure and fell out of it. It is a great language. Lisps have this inherent elegance to them especially in data transformation pipelines. That said I found its performance still a bit on the wanting side particularly if

Lol, I wonder what the throughput will be with all this extra spacing. Maybe the "take off your shoes" gang will have to let up a bit to maintain the proper distancing. Here's a conundrum for air travelers: are you all more s

Dark mode hurts my eyes. My vision is still good enough for black on white background text but the inverse colors make it physically hurt when I try to read the same text in the same font size due to the slight astigmatism that I have. Inte

Microsoft feels very schizophrenic at this point. On the one hand I think there exists a faction that wants to move more into the open ecosystem. On the other though there appears to be an entrenched faction that's hell bent on retaini

I frequently toy with the idea of creating a platform like this using Raspberry Pi or some other SBC where every customer gets not only their own database but their own app server and everything else on a small piece of hardware. Due to hea

Thanks. Came looking for this post. Way too many web developers just assume that everyone follows every nook and cranny of their ecosystem.

What an absurdity. Treating layoffs like a buildup to a product launch? From the outside that company has always seemed to me like it was mired in stupidity and they keep doing everything to reinforce this impression.

At the very least I hope the open concept office design dies of coronavirus. It was a bad idea all along.

This speaks volumes about how fraught with peril building microservices is. For me the prevailing message of this post is "don't do it at all unless you are willing to absorb this much complexity for the promised benefits".

There is nothing wrong with most developers working on and communicating about the entire code base. Having teams work in silos is not a benefit. You're touting as a benefit what is one of microservices' gravest issues - teams sto

The current situation is the furthest from being convenient in regards to layoffs. No company wants to be seen as heartless during a truly global tragedy.

This has been a thing in the last five years only. Prior to PiS all governments have been both appreciative and enthusiastic about the EU. Please don’t tar all Poles with the PiS brush.

Does it even mean anything. The economic discontinuity that the virus will introduce is likely to alter all of these numbers in ways we can't predict. Most likely push salaries much lower after the layoffs hit on a wide scale.

Something like it needs to exist. JSON is stupidly inefficient for large sets of numbers. Except a framework just like grpc has been around for 25 years... but shhhh, don't tell hipsters about IIOP, they are like new parents and need t
