It hasn't been well planned or well executed. Just look at all the posts in this thread of people complaining about being locked out of their accounts for very dubk reasons. The Live account system is well known to be a fucking mess no

Microsoft literally makes little children cry. God I hate that company and its practices. They have not changed since the nineties, not one bit.

Corba was a spec that had a number of implementations. Some Orbs were great while others were crap. Unlike DCOM however it was an open standard. For some reason at some point it was declared highly uncool. And now is being reinvented hard y

Yeah, it's like everyone fell in love with the X/Athena widgets all of a sudden. I'd never have guessed that after all these years we'd go back to UIs looking like this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/

If RAM and storage become one and the same the way you store your data in memory is how you store your data permanently. The state of your application becomes your data storage. Or at least in theory it could.

This vs Typescript or Flow or ReScript... as always the JS ecosystem offers an embarrassment of riches. The problem that this one solves seems to be that every other JS type system is delivered by a transpiler, a technique that the JS world

I think technology like this should force us to rethink how we do stuff at a fundamental level. Does the concept of treating "storage hardware" and "compute hardware" even make sense in this world? We should probably sta

I sincerely doubt all that layered complexity helps push features faster. I left a next.js React job a couple of months ago where the team spent 90% of the time dicking around with the setup and wrangling with dependency issues instead of d

I have one. Unfortunately mine dries out like crazy. I had it for a year and already had a major nozzle issue. And that despite being judicious about printing at least a couple of full color pages every week.

The universe is probably conscious at some base level. All conscious agents existing within it are kind of short lived threads within its VM. Death may or may not be a transition from the localized to the global state of awareness. But I&#x

Thank Apple for fucking up the term Retina Display. It used to mean something very specific until the marketing department at Apple overheard it. Same happened earlier to "real time".

Very nice form factor but the DPI is just not there for me. At this resolution and screen size we're talking merely 140PPI. I refuse to work on anything below 200 with 250+ being more in the tolerable range. Fuzzy text bothers me a lot

Nice high spectrum lamps can alleviate a lot of the lighting issues with cubicles. Yeah the fluorescent lamps hanging from the ceiling are shit but it's nothing that can't be fixed with a nice high CRI uplight.
