Restic is rock solid. I have backed TBs servers with it. It never failed. Encryption is properly implemented.

What do you mean? It’s just “sftp” in front of the repository name! And SFTP is SFTP, regardless of the OS.

The only issue is, there is no ZFS cloud backend other one (that is very expensive) and a half! Otherwise, ZFS snapshots are sweet!

I will use Restic (or Borg), in preference to Duplicati.

I don’t know how the openzfs code base looks like. But the command line is pretty clean, and easy to understand. Overall, I have had a good experience with ZFS.

Why these large cloud companies with thousands of employees have a work environment that is susceptible to basic attack techniques, such as fishing? It doesn’t instill confidence in the rest of their infrastructure.

There are probably many such vulnerabilities in this giant code base, being exploited by those who have resources to find them. If OpenSSL is written in Rust, to what extent will the vulnerabilities be reduced (assuming that Rust is support

I like protonmail. It’s come a long way. Plans are much better now, and you get end to end encryption on the same platform.

In France, the schools, universities and pretty much any other establishment are closed to the public. After around 7pm, the doors are actually physically chained. So it’s difficult to get in or out even if you are a university staff, stud

LUKS is the de facto disk encryption in Linux. For file system encryption, use fscrypt and ZFS native encryption. For backups, use restic or Borg. For encrypted synchronization, use cryptomator, gocryptfs or rclone. File encryption is rare

I have been using ZFS for a while. Simple, reliable and nice. I now run it even on my laptop and do ZFS send receive for backups. The only limitation is that deduplication requires too much ram and cpu, and is therefore almost useless. Othe

It probably depends on the country. It can be a problem in Europe with large public sector, and less of a problem in USA (since companies care about results).
