Crank looks super cool, thanks for sharing. Using generators for stateful components makes a lot of sense.

FYI, some of us have started working on https://replicache.dev/ instead, which shares some DNA with Noms. But it's not decentralized.

Investment managers always ask this question and I never know what to answer. I feel like everyone's answer must be the same: maximize return, minimize risk. What are possible answers to this question you're looking for?

C++ programmer of ~10 years here (Google Chrome, mostly). Rust feels very very much like C++ to me. All the memory ownership stuff is basically common patterns in modern C++ pulled down into the compiler and enforced. Also arguing with the

I mean there will definitely be exploits. It does still seem dramatically different to need to get an escape out of the js sandbox than to just be handed privileges by design. Particularly if (in some glorious future) the js vm is written i

It's popular everywhere. The Go ecosystem, or Rust ecosystem, as an example is just as bad about this as the JS ecosystem. There is a difference, but it's a constant factor. Asymptotically, everyone is just pasting code they found

Yes this is the common way computers work, but there's no reason to accept it. When today's process model was designed, there was no such thing as github or the internet. The idea of googling for a hunk of code and just pasting it

[taste] It would be cool if this were a blog post or something so I could refer to it someplace more canonical than this post. I would like to try and use it in my own projects.

You're right! But you can sort the second column of the index too. So in our case, the index would be sorted by dept id, then employee id. deptid empid 1 1 1 3 1 7 1 10 ... 2 4 2 5

Imagine you're doing: SELECT * FROM EMPLOYEE, DEPARTMENT WHERE EMPLOYEE.DEPARTMENTID = DEPARTMENT.ID The naive thing would be to iterate employees and for each one read the corresponding department. However that would mean one disk see

There's no direct relationship between the two currently. They share a lot of underlying technology but Filecoin doesn't directly incentivize IPFS, and IPFS itself isn't directly used by Filecoin either. The basic reason why

FWIW, we (replicache.dev) have begun working on it again. We're part of the original team that built Noms. Unclear what the roadmap for Noms will be yet, which is why we've not updated the README.

Thank you! For the record, Replicache uses Noms internally, so I think ... something ... will still become of Noms. We're just not sure how to move forward with it at this point. And I personally find Noms incredibly satisfying mental

The APIs Replicache calls at customer service must be idempotent. Replicache passes a version vector to the customer that customer uses to ensure this, and to enforce causal consistency. Customers must make several relatively small changes

Hi Dale, Thank you for the comment. I think there is a technical difference and an ergonomic difference: 1. The technical difference is that when you do conflict resolution with Replicache you have more information, specifically the intent
