Is a scientist working on a nuclear bomb a civilian? In the strict sense, yes, but it is very close to not being one.

I think it is fundamentally the emotional problem of FOMO. The way you solve that issue is by understanding clearly the tradeoffs. Better organization and an ever growing backlog sheds light on how much you can actually consume versus how m

Recently, I've been working hard on the very problem described. One thing that is crucial is having a model of the information hose. This information overload is ultimately a psychological problem and having a way to conceptualize the

I'm old enough to resent my younger zoomer siblings' taste in music, and have once been crushed to realize a song on the radio I was enjoying was a Billie Eilish song. Yes, I am a cranky millennial. We are old enough to be cranky

> Thus, fees should scale exponentially with vehicle weight. Work is force times distance. You have to factor in how much the vehicle is on the road, and the gas used is a decent proxy measure of that.

ChromeOS is excellent. It is such a pleasure to use. Yes, there are minor bugs from time to time, but I like it very much.

Yes. The app seems very useful in that regard. But I would like it to emphasize the style aspects of it, not some objective standard of "too complicated sentences".

It's too hackish, system dependent, and not feature complete yet. I plan to run it as a flask app on the local network as a more intuitive way of tagging and managing bookmarks... lot more to do.

I am coding my own hacked together bookmarks manager. I can save any page with a click of the button using SingleFile (a fantastic Chrome extension, by the way!). Then a cronjob runs and puts it into a folder to be processed into a database

To me saying learn C++ to appreciate Rust sounds like advising someone to bang their head against the wall first because when they stop it will feel good.

I figured I'd get one of these types of comments. =) Yes, I know it is dangerous to lump C and C++ together. But truly, I appreciate your comment. Unix systems are important to me, and it seems C is probably a good idea to master first

It is an analogy, and it's already established we aren't discussing law. The question is the principles, causes, and reasons at play and how they relate to other principles, causes, and reasons.

But isn't the sort of sneaky racism exactly what people claim is such a problem today? There's not overt claim of inferiority or an explicit denial of opportunity, but yet there is still "systemic racism". The analogy is

If everyone was wrong, it is reasonable to believe a low probability event occurred. However, given the extent to which people predicted a Trump loss (say 1 in 20), which is significantly rarer, given that the event occurred it suggests the
