At my university they teach you ML as the first language. It's a pretty cold start, but I think it's worth it.

Right, but PhD admissions is naturally much more competitive. But leaving financial aspects aside for a moment, is a PhD worth 4-6 years for a future career in the business world?

True and it's good if people understand it better that way. Nonetheless, I'd advice on introducing a correct grammar as soon as possible.

I see it like this: I can always go and work for a big company and make good money. But right now, that's not what I want to do. I want to explore, I want to take risks, I want to be a little crazy. I am not really afraid since the worst th

But what's the goal? Getting into Harvard, Princeton, etc.? Because once they actually get in and reach their goal, they'll notice it's yet a long, long road to go.

The only real reason why it's harder for older people to make a startup is the high risk involved. Once you have a family you cannot mess around anymore.

Insane. Education is really, really, really important, but there's more to life than studying. Much more. Besides, the value of Ivy-League schools is overrated.

Great job. Doing something for 3.5 years on your own requires a lot of confidence and perseverance. Congratulations!

Sure, but I don't think the 18-year olds in the UK don't start drinking before, either. I think whenever it's actually legal, you abuse your right to drink by doing so excessively. I might be wrong, though.

People who first start drinking once they're are legally allowed to start doing so excessively. That's always the case, no matter if you are 16, 18 or 21. Being from Germany, where the drinking age is 16, I was stunned to see those 18 year

Yes, it is time. Lowering the drinking age would make 21 years olds behave like 21 years olds, and not like 16 or 18 years olds. It is astonishing how much effect the drinking age has on maturity.

Good point. However, if "being good to your users" is the meaning of "good" in the article, then using the word "good" (with all its connotations) might be misleading. "Good" basically reduces to "do what your users want".

There's recently been a debate at Cambridge University (UK) about Silicon Valley vs. Europe as the future for start-ups. Hermann Hauser, a very successful entrepreneur from Cambridge, argued that Europe will catch up when it comes to new te

While I am sure that there is a lot of truth in that post, I'd say that selling "sins" is much more profitable: sex, drugs, alcohol, tobacco - lots of money involved.

Slightly off-topic, but still related to Lisp: what do you guys think of ML (as compared to Lisp, for example). I learned this in my first year at college and I like it better and better the more I work with it. It seems that Lisp is much m
