I loved this XKCD. https://xkcd.com/1597/ use these commands unless you get an error, then save your changes, and download a fresh copy.

I did use subversion in college. Never professionally, so creating our own branches wasn't a pain. I think there is a reason why this XKCD was made: https://xkcd.com/1597/

Also as soon as deep fakes are as prevalent as photoshop, I'd want someone to verify the content. You could imagine hearing "Jerry Seinfeld" repeatedly using the n word. So I'd want to see the NYTimes or Bloomberg trying

Yes, but it'd be a different AI. Google's algorithm would have to adapt or off to Bing

Git makes sense for the Linux kernel and merging patches at scale. 99% of software development would be fine with subversion

You're right. I misread browser engine as search engine.

I thought you could change your search engine. I just did it on my iPad: Setting > Safari > Search Engine https://9to5mac.com/2021/02/09/duckduckgo/

You can roll over your 401K into a Rollover IRA and even do options.

Companies like Fidelity are letting people gamble their 401ks in crypto. A16Z just set aside billions for the Web3. It's going to take a while to disappear.

Exactly and it could bring R to a larger audience.

I'm sad that R didn't go closer to JavaScript style for Lambda instead of going toward Haskell, e.g., ‘\(x) x + 1’ vs x=> x+1

Seems like location based Ads would be $$$. E.g., if Google knows that I'm not usually in Los Angeles; it knows what I like and could serve ads that'd be great for me when I google "places to eat in LA"

I forgot about Google Inbox, I loved that. Google Reader RIP. Google Desktop Search was great, especially how you could extend it. Google Answers (that's how my Google Account was verified)

Elsevier's business model was valid in the 1990s and 2000s when most people used paper. Unfortunately the world has changed but their business model hasn't. It's reminiscent of Real Estate agents.

They asked the Hedge Fund to transfer the money back. Citi is a bank but couldn't reverse this mistaken transaction and had to go to court. If this was done by check, Citi could have simply cancelled the check.

The receiving bank can have a 7 day hold but that's not by design like a check (DDA) where there's a holding period and you can cancel payment.
