Thank you OP. This is one of the best projects I have seen on hacker news in several weeks! In my company, we face similar challenges. Many times we need to visualize sensor output over really bad network connections on the other side of th

It is a heartbreak every time I click on an article on hacker news, only to find that it is behind a pay wall. Perhaps hacker news should find a way to mention this somewhere in the title?

If robotics matures to a point where food delivery could be fully automated, could we see similar price inversion in the US?

Could humans be considered to be a Gödel machine? If not a human, could the entire humanity considered as one entity be considered to be a Gödel machine? On a different plane could evolution qualify as a Gödel machine as well?

"Unfortunately, stats intro courses are usually taught as if each test is an independent tool, needlessly making life more complicated for students and teachers alike." Sadly enough this was true for so many other parts of my ed

This post just makes me sad. It is a sad reminder of just how long lived the plastic in our oceans is. And as a species we are still not doing enough to stop this.

In an ideal world, I would love to use a really secure app for communication. However, my choices are limited when most of my friends are on WhatsApp or Signal. That is just the unfortunate reality of the way social networks work.

I thought it was completely fine to photograph anything that is visible publicly. Or is that principle different for each country? The problem with this approach is if someday it became possible to create photographs from human memory, woul

I wonder why the prime minister felt the need to announce this himself. If I remember correctly the Chinese premier did not announce their test.

The hassle of dealing with traffic has always prevented me from cycling to more places. A city with little motor traffic would be an absolutely amazing place for cycling everywhere!

One point OP may have missed is learning opportunity. The opportunity to learn in a big company, any big company is simply not the same as that in a startup. You are always one of 50 people working on a feature that has already been spec&#x

I wonder if this post gave some seminal ideas to a new generation of OS or language builders! Really cool stuff.

Reminds me of Airbnb and Uber review systems in some way. And those systems always keep me on my best behavior. If the government does not abuse the social credit system for petty things, it could become a force for the good.

I remember reading a newspaper for hours after school. Now I barely read news for more than 30 mins a day. I am more connected but my satisfaction of the quality of news I am consuming has gone really down. I wonder what similar changes Phi

Lower drug prices and higher availability of generics is a good thing that helps millions of people. Now let's talk about how we can ensure drug labs, no matter where they are in the world, produce high quality drugs.

These are seriously big and well funded companies. Why do they need to share development? If Cruise can build a working prototype as a startup so can BMW. What is going on? Part of me wonders if self driving tech ended up being harder than

This is beautiful because I think this is just the beginning. Who knows if we'll still be designing cars in VR in the long run. But it is really nice that people are beginning to experiment and tools to help them do so are emerging. As

It is a thing in real life. You have to see it to believe it. To be fair, 10 people would write more code than a 10x engineer. But a 10x engineer can cut through complexity and deliver something simple that, by the virtue of its simplicity

You are absolutely correct. If you are a 10x engineer reporting to a mediocre manager in these countries, it really complicates things and in the end you learn wrong lessons in life.
