Why do you assume that the person whose money the government "steals" would have made any of that money in the absence of government? How would they buy and sell goods or services without legal tender mandated by a government, enf

It's worse than that. Gnome-shell (probably the most visible part of Gnome) is still at 3.4 in Jessie. It just hit Sid last week or something. That said, I've used Gnome 3 since it was still in development and grew to love it. Aft

I think genetics has a lot to do with the success of Kenyan long-distance athletes. There are forty-two ethnic communities in Kenya, yet pretty much every long-distance runner you have ever heard of is from the Kalenjin community. If it wer

Contrary to (popular?) opinion most of Africa is not a warzone. With extremely few exceptions (Somalia, and the Democratic Republic of Congo), most of Sub-Saharan Africa is in the middle of an extended period of peace. It's inconceivable th

There was also an interesting Top Gear segment where Mika Hakkinen gave James May a racing lesson[1]. In it they talked about why Finns seem to do so much better than people from other countries in motor racing. A bit of it was to do with t
