Actually both of the cases in question started as legal cases in which Wikimedia funded the defense of users who were being sued for contributing.

Wikimedia does much more than just host Wikipedia. Even if they didn't host Wikipedia I would personally gladly donate to their legal and lobbying efforts. Only in Sweden where I live they have greatly contributed to freedom of panoram

Is it common that SO and Wikipedia copycats respects open licenses? Most times I run into them they do not. It's really tricky to enforce open licenses on this scale as it's each contributor that licenses their content rather than

I think the big benefit for Google and Co here is SLA and support, Wikimedia gives contributors and partners access for free... A win for Wikimedia beyond diversified funding is also that Google and other corporations gets an contractual ob

I wonder how much of Mozilla budget is actually spent on Firefox. Wikimedia Foundation had a revenue of $157 million in 2021 and >550 staff and contractors.
