I think the reason for downvotes here is that you don’t need to be in the forestry community to know this. It’s been in science textbooks since I was in 4th grade, kids did presentations and posters on it, it’s in documentaries, it’s on inf

my 3 year old corporate HP feels like its been at end of life since the windows 11 upgrade. The 2 year old M1Max MBP feels indestructible and still has hilariously long battery life and crushes basically everything I ask of it.

I'm not saying you are doing this, but don't confuse Lumber production and forest growth. Increasing lumber production decreases forest growth. we need to increase forest capacity for lumber production first.

I think the work Livingcarbon is doing is very cool here, actually. at least genetically engineering better photosynthesis seems like a plausible approach and their demos so far seem like they are working.

Weldments have less shrinkage/distortion than castings, but not none. In machine tool applications, it's the vibration damping that everyone cares about, but my ultimate objective will be to find out whether it matters if you engi

right now, I'm trying to figure out if fabricated steel with the right design can accomplish a functional analog of what cast iron can. the objective is to leverage flat pack laser cut pieces instead of castings.

I'm currently passionate about trying to understand the importance of young's modulus in machine design, and whether it can be "worked around" with different materials that are easier to work with.

Aren't the pros and the airs very close to the same weight? the 15" air is 3.3 lbs and the MacBook 14" with the m3 is 3.4lbs. The heaviest 16" with the m3Max is 4.4.

This argument kind of elides over how you will make the millions, when the author has not. The hypothetical of lost revenue needs to be validated by the evidence of actual revenue being made in this way. Right now, I see lots of interest in

Hardwood floors can be re-sanded and refinished many times over, generating no waste. Vinyl floors get scratched and then thrown away. Wood is renewable, vinyl comes from oil wells. I'm not certain this is actually logical.
