It seems a shame that Nvidia don't make a NUC like product from the Jetson TX2. See: http://www.nvidia.com/object/embedded-systems-dev-kits-modul... . They'd need to sell it for about $400 though, with case an

Thanks. Hilarious/awesome is about what I was aiming for. Your comments are very sensible. I'll see what I can do.

LOL. Yes. That's what inspired me to write my own Windows text editor with smooth scrolling: http://deadfrog.co.uk It's a bit rubbish. It is written in the Amiga style of every-byte-matters though. If it wasn't fo

People put experimental digital blocks in ASICs all the time, it isn't necessarily that expensive. Its a bit like taking an extra pair of shoes on holiday - in general, I'm a bit concerned about reaching the airline's baggage

I'm guessing that isn't a direct quote. It looks like the difference between truth and reality was a bit of a theme for Einstein. For example, his "I don't believe in Mathematics" quote sounds like it might be tryin

As I've cycled around Cambridge, UK for the last 17 years, I've noticed now diesel cars that seemed OK when new (ie no noticeable soot or smell from the exhaust) become problematic about half way through their life - presumably du

Western governments seem to think that economic growth is absolutely necessary. Dunno why. But obviously that isn't sustainable for much longer on our current planet.

Even Mars' pathetic magnetosphere is probably better than nothing (ie what you'd get on a Stanford Torus). Either way, meteor showers will be life threatening, instead of pretty, like they are on Earth.

I can't find a GI for honeydew melon, but water melon is higher than table sugar, even before I eat the celery at the same time.

I understand ( ) about dietary fibre and glycemic indices. Celery has more water than pretty much all fruits (www.herefordshireccg.nhs.uk/download.cfm?doc=docm93jijm4n7467.pdf) Celery also has more fibre than honeydew melon - 1.6% vs 0

Indeed. And Food Unwrapped (UK TV programme) explained how the supermarkets don't need to say how much sugar is in those ultra-sweet Piccolo tomatoes because they vary and it's impractical to measure. In fact, it's worse than

Yeah. But humans haven't had fresh fruit available all year round until recently. Similarly, there was never a wide range of foods available. I'm not sure we've got enough evidence to say that changing our diet to include lot

Interesting point. However, just to be pedantic, if memory bandwidth were the only bottleneck, you'd expect video decoding to generate output faster than memcpy, since it wouldn't have to read as much :-) My Intel NUC cost me £300
