Are you seriously suggesting, Citizen, that the same standard applies both to the oppressor and the oppressed? Have a care, Citizen; such regressionist attitudes court accusations of reactionism.

Don't you imagine it is easier to keep a level head in a confrontation when you are confident of your ability to defend your person, should it become necessary to do so?

Speaking as an "imperative guy" who's lately been learning Common Lisp, I tend to suspect the confusion you're encountering is not so much a property of the functional style in general, as of Haskell's style in part

Come now, Citizen! "Rule of Law"? How old-fashioned of you! Snark aside, what I don't understand is this: If it means so damned much to Snowden that he should expose all these supposedly horrible supposed abuses, then why isn

So what you're saying is, you'd pardon someone who broke a law against torture and saved lives by so doing. After all, the torturer "[broke] a law to bring light to greater wrongdoings", and "the only just thing to

What could possibly do more to convince people that they should engage in the process of government than to be nastily judgmental of their reasons for not so doing heretofore?

Nothing odd about it, save that encountering such a pure strain of Marxism as late as 2014 is a bit of a surprise. I suppose every generation has at least a few True Believers, in every ideology that admits True Belief -- and Marxism is mos

The XOR swap is interesting, too. But I wouldn't want to see one in code someone wrote today, and which wasn't targeted at an embedded platform -- and a heavily constrained embedded platform, at that. (MSP430? Sure. ARM Cortex-M3?
