A TI-83 was about $100 in the year 2000, and it doesn't look like it's that much cheaper today. I would've expected Texas Instruments to try gouging their very captive market.

$160 at Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Texas-Instruments-TI84-TI-Calculator/... Not as bad as I would've expected. Also, apparently it includes a very simple Python environment? https://education.ti.com

Tangential: the favicon for dustri.org is from a really delightful (and hilariously dark) children's book called "I Want My Hat Back" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I_Want_My_Hat_Back

The lead author on this paper is a professor of anesthesiology. I think it's fairly safe to describe its conclusion as crank-adjacent, if not outright cranky.

Assuming that the announcement video Ben Collins posted represents the new logo, it's a delightfully pride rainbow-colored InfoWars logo with an onion in place of the 'o'. https://bsky.app/profile/bencoll

I find this kind of 'lol nothing can ever improve' mentality to be pointlessly cynical, boring, and reductive. Oddly, it's of a type I mostly associate with the so-called dirtbag left of the United States.
