I only found this project focused on streaming but it's unmaintained (some summer of code or thesis project, IIRC): https://trac.ffmpeg.org/wiki/ffserver

Specification of ffmpeg commands can get quite complex, especially once you get to filters. I never understood why it hasn't grown a DSL to specify the input/output/transformation. Could be JSON-based for what I care. Then we

For any use-case I can think of, which are all "small data" (under 1B rows), I'd rather use DB migrations to take care of this problem rather than forcing myself to live with my previous design decisions indefinitely. I am at

I've just found this for the exact same reason, for 2-10 sets. The gradient descent is done client-side (Tensorflow.js): https://www.deepvenn.com/ I've stress-tested it with ~5 sets around ~50k items, comes back i

A related tool, except for monitoring I/O, is Progress [1]. Imagine that behind the scenes it does something like lsof every second (-m flag) and tracks the progress of any file open by the specified process(es) (-c or -a flags). Works

Yes, you can reorder the individual segments. If the original video has chapters, these get imported as segments or you can mark them up manually.

Exactly, I thought his design was long gone the way of the IE toolbars. I use a "kill sticky" bookmarklet for this purpose which removes position:fixed elements and similar junk.

I wanted to take a peek the state diagram (ASCII version). But I was feeling lazy, so apologies for having ChatGPT do the work for me. I wasn't going for correctness and didn't check it. If you're like me, here you go: https

One case where this might go wrong is if you accidentally delete a file, the deletion replicates and you're left without a backup. Replication is nice but it is not a replacement for backup.

Let me add that more often than not, it's also absolutely useless when you DO know the exact thing you're looking for, shoveling literally any content at you at all cost.

Reading the pitch and this solves all of the problems I don't have (as a developer and operator of services that don't need to scale to millions of users). How often do you need to clone/restore whole databases, really? But I

I believe this is what Janus (NEXTGRES) does. To clarify, the wire protocol is the easy part, the semantic differences how each database does things is a whole other can of worms. Such emulation will never be 100%, quirks and all.

It is always the edge cases that will kill you. In the case of WP on PostgreSQL, the reason you want WP in the first place is the plugins and those will be hit or miss on PostgreSQL. Just give up on the combination of those two.

I may be misremembering, but Dave has spoken on his Dave's Garage Youtube channel about running a separate software business selling small utilities and later selling some of them to Microsoft. This might have been one of them. A quick

While I enjoyed the read and protocol parsing is always an interesting exercise, I'm still left wondering why a proxy was deemed necessary. Why not parse the logs instead?
