I'm not sure I understand your concerns. Why would it not be OK to receive the same compensation for the same work?

You can't just discount the exceptions to make an argument. Uprooting a family and moving to a different country while being in the mercy of a work visa is not something to be taken lightly either in practice. Anyway the point is not w

Because purchasing power parity has nothing to do with selling labour and work is what should be compensated. Purchasing power is none of the employer's business. Purchasing power means what you want it to mean. Will Apple adjust it

Let's agree to disagree. Imo it is very much comparable from a negotiation power point. The fact that it is not something you can change easily is orthogonal. If you want to be pedantic you can use religion as an example.

Religion or Veteran status* are obvious counterexamples, people are very much in control for those. Point is, just because an outgroup can be discriminated (legally) it is not fair morally.

If you are not arguing against equal pay for equal work Remote = lower costs does not hold. It also depends on what you think about wage gaps and why do we need equal employment laws in the first place?

The number of remote companies championing COL adjustments offering relocation is close to zero though.

This article is exactly about that people from all those places are not happy being paid less though.

Some companies argue paying better salaries for remote are detrimental because it distorts the local markets. How to interpret that distortion is probably up to personal taste.

Agreed. Push/pull. If someone wants to learn about that new offering, go ahead and seek out. Otherwise it is literally spam. All without talking about the privacy/security of electronic ads.

It is only a problem if you think the common people with their common problems should be represented first and foremost including stable folks. Also, there is a moral argument about equality and diversity. If you interpret democracy as in r

Yes. I claim it is textbook weasel wording. Which to me sends the opposite message. Call it illogical if you will. No, the statement can be true and does not support the title. Say we have X AI offered goods and Y traditional promotions w

This is the crux of the problem. Elites are going to represent the elites' problems and serve their incentives. I'm in favor of sortition of choosing representatives on every level.

Sure. 1. The title is meaningless. Replace the HN title's 'may' with 'may not' and it is exactly the same thing. 2. Especially if you consider the original title is How artificial intelligence may be making you buy

Or not. There is really no data in the article besides some very contrived self reported numbers. In Germany, a Berlin start-up called SO1 is doing similar things with its AI system for retailers. It claims that nine times more people buy

So it is the privacy conscious people's fault for opting out? Hard disagree. If moz://a implements bias in their feedback loop that is on them.

When people do it, it is tax avoidance. At scale it is tax optimization. Call it disruption if you will. These tax shenanigans would stop if laws were enforced. Those who could enforce them have no interest to do so.
