Wow, that businessinsider site is the worst I've seen in a while, and that's something considering TechCrunch (Oath family) is pestering Europeans with disgustingly non compliant GDPR popups.

Not convinced, as following the links in GP leads to some sub par (as in the end user experience) home grown solutions. Further, we are not exactly talking rocket surgery here, this is an extension anyone can install with a few clicks and

My thoughts exactly. I really hoped there was something I missed about Brave, but it seems they are worse than I thought. Not just position itself as the middleman to take a cut from ad revenue, but trying to profile the users as well? All

It's an unbreakable circle. Surely there are referendums before pitchforks to change the election process? A single voting that needs to succeed.

I've been looking to experiment with browser mining solutions recently but the offerings are really lacking imo. It seems to be a simple problem (let users mine in exchange for virtual goods ~proportional to the solved hashes) but bar

So, what is the killer app of faas? To my layman understanding the selling point is easy scale-ability, but it seems to be inherently at odds with serverless being the most expensive computing model?

Indeed, but I'm less interested in finding what should be the right salary for a particular role at a particular company than actually addressing the disparities.

What is so absurd about getting the same payment for the same job? In fact, there are plenty of legislation that underpins this very concept for various groups of people, overseas workers not being one of them, so? I don't really buy t

Sorry, it seems I lost it. It was nothing fancy at all though, I simply piped youtube-dl to sox, cut up the original audio on 'silence' (some tweaking the thresholds for what is considered silence was necessary) then concatenated

ASMR is probably pretty well suited to ML. I had a sox one liner generating ~infinite content from [no talking] ASMR videos, which worked surprisingly well with some post processing in audacity. I would guess today some services could synth

Why do people do that? Selling their findings for chump change, possibly very serious vulnerabilities highly paid architects missed? Obviously they want to do The Right Thing, but they are very much in a position to negotiate.

Voting is merely one way to elect (any kind of) representatives and indeed, the problems mentioned in the gp are inherent to it. Consider how drawing a lot is probably more fair and less prone to manipulation [1] [1] https://en.w
