The exploit could be a DoS attack. I don't think it's that contrived to have a service that runs an expensive operation at a fixed rate, controlled by the user, limited to 1 operation per minute.

Right, but you should be able to tell after the first half that smoking the 2nd half is a bad idea. The "skill issue" isn't not being able to handle a whole joint, it's not knowing when to stop, which is something you sh

It's still not comparable to mkdir and find. The arbitrary limit in C is not fixed by the code. So if you run out of space on a 32-bit machine with sizeof(size_t) == 4, you can run the same code on a 64-bit machine with sizeof(size_t

Independence of irrelevant alternatives doesn't seem like a desirable property to me. It suggests that someone ranking a candidate 2nd vs 100th does not tell you anything about how much they prefer their 1st choice to that candidate. S

When I say "consciousness", the concept that I mean isn't reducible to other concepts. It's a concept that can only be found through introspection. And it seems like many have noticed the same concept, so we can label it

Your criticism is all correct, in the sense that I haven't pinned down what I mean well enough to avoid it. Unfortunately, I mean by "subjective experience" is ineffable. And the reason it's ineffable is also ineffable.

My subjective experience is simply in a different category from math. I can't really explain it because subjective experience is ineffable. Asking to describe it mathematically is like asking to write a poem that tastes salty. You can

I can visualize the ball without color, so while having aphantasia implies no color, the converse is not true. It's sort of like an autostereogram, but with only the depth effect and no color at all.

I think the best argument for consciousness having an effect on the physical world is that the physical world contains a formulation of the hard problem of consciousness. If consciousness doesn't affect what words get written, then no

Why shouldn't stuff be allowed to spontaneously come into existence? Why should there be any rules at all to begin with? If there is truly nothing, then there isn't any rule to force the nothing to stay nothing. So the question be

You can also do quadratic smoothing without additional state, by moving towards the target with a speed proportional to the square root of the distance. Unlike exponential smoothing, this will actually reach the target.

Initially there is an equal chance that there are 99 or 100 red balls. But if there is a green ball, it is unlikely to be the last picked. So the fact that you saw 99 red balls makes it unlikely there is a green ball.
