How do you measure how good you are at coding? As a follow up question, if you can't measure it, how can you meaningfully improve?

Intelligence is a mixture of upbringing and genetics. If you're raised by a pack of wolves in the woods, you'll probably be rock dumb by all measures, regardless of your DNA.

I think it's also the same with pet dogs, at least with the intelligent breeds. If you have a border collie, talking to it a lot makes it smarter. At least it seems that way.

> We’ve let go of half a dozen employees and kept only as many This sounds like the worst employer I've ever heard of. A 50% chance of being fired? There's no way I'd take an offer if I knew that statistic.

That's pretty short-sighted. If a 1960s era government with limited computer technology can put people on the moon, I think a modern business with adequate funding can send people to Mars.

I agree. The conscious focus of most 10X people is probably on specific programming problems, rather than higher up things such as making money.

Being 10X for a short duration is much easier than maintaining 10X over years. And also, are these people successful in terms of personal fitness and health? Is their home clean? Do they have good relationships with their family and friends

One way to measure productivity is how fast you can create what the marketing people want. I can't think of any way better than that, and it's really ambiguous.

What's the point of being a 10X engineer somewhere, if you don't own the IP? It sounds like a way to make someone else rich off your hard work.

It's probably 'easy' if you've already made a bunch of successful startups, and have the confidence to know exactly what to do. Getting that skill set in the first place is quite difficult though.
