Clickbait-y title since the Economics Prof said this around the mid-part of the article: > Choi emphasized that he doesn’t necessarily think Ramsey’s approach is strategically wrong, even though it is technically fallacious: “I think of

I transitioned to a domain that was outside my comfort zone. Specifically, I was just pure software dev, bored like you. Thought I’d dive into this new IaC thing my peers are working on, and down the rabbit hole I went all the way to the ni

I can see a possible reason behind it: Learning a new language alongside a new problem domain is hard. So it’s possible that some of these projects started out as a way to learn Rust in a problem domain they’re already familiar with.

I agree. There are generally 4 types of documentation as per the diagram in this page[0] and FastAPI’s solely focuses on the top left quadrant and falls flat on the lower right. [0] https://documentation.divio.com/

We probably need to qualify your claim with this phrase taken from the same quote: > in its most severe grade I will hazard a guess that most inflammation is not severe but our tolerance for it has diminished due, in part, to the prevale

I draw inspiration from my day to day work (software engineer). Sometimes it’s an idea that I’d like to implement at work, sometimes it’s something I just learned. What used to hold me back was the thought that what I know is nothing new. H

The PDF[1] that the second link points to gives a very good background on why a refactoring tool should be part of any software engineer's toolkit. Thanks for sharing! [1] https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Don-R

There are times when a conversation that’s important to some participants spontaneously starts in chat and it’s too disruptive to ask less interested (but important) participants to “move it to email.” Suggesting that might cause the conver

It sounds like the more general the algorithm, the more stateful it needs to be before it can be useful. On the other hand, specialized algorithms need less to zero state but have limited applications.

If you’re using Python, I’d recommend Architecture Patterns with Python by Harry J.W. Percival and Bob Gregory.

I still use pen and paper but I find that they’re best used as a scratchpad where the stuff you put in there eventually find their way in a TODO app where you can re-organize them or add more details as they are uncovered.

I do have questions! :-) What are your plans to sustain pyinfra’s progress? Specifically in the financial aspect? Like, are you looking into joining something like Open Source Collective or do you intend to self fund this for the foreseeabl

True. The way I see it, until the industry comes up with an open standard for CI/CD configuration, we’re going to have to conform to each provider’s implementation.

+1 to this. It’s how I approach life so far: Every chance I get to proof something, I go do it but always mindful that I have to design my approach such that, if it turns out to be the wrong path, it doesn’t cost me too much. In the end, it

If it’s just learning to code for its own sake, I would recommend Ruby for its syntax. If you want to learn it for fun initially but want the option to use it for real-world problem solving, I’d recommend Python for its rich tooling ecosyst

I would guess because success in war is partly determined by soldier morale and delicious food, particularly ones that bring up happy memories, is one of the best morale boosters out there.

It’s probably just because they had the choice of either focusing all their energy on fixing the problem asap or setting aside some of it to write a more detailed description that’s also fit for public consumption. Given the severity, they

This feeling comes to me in waves and it’s been like that since I was still an awkward teen in the late 90s. I wonder if it’s just because I tend to expend so much energy on a very interesting (to me, at least) computer-related problem that

I had to google that phrase and found that it’s slang for unfalsifiable. Based on that, I would agree with you. In addition, it sounds like Epistemic Legibility differs [from Falsifiability] by not necessarily requiring an empirical test to
