Sure but if you join on day 1 then the refresher grants could be peanuts compared to your initial offer? Why wait 4 years to find out you won't get any more equity instead of baking it into the original offer with a longer vesting peri

A fantastic piece and a subject I've spent a lot of time thinking about as an early-stage founder. There's a ton of criticism in this thread but I think people are missing the point. 1. Why 90 days expiration sucks. If you'

While that sounds great for Twilio (and in some ways it is), it's actually a bit of a bummer because this means they left around $90M on the table. This is because of how IPOs work: In an IPO, the company (eg. Twilio) sells the issued

Sure thing! You can definitely render your React code on the server and (distrubutedly + carefully) cache the result to make your initial page load blazingly fast. IMO it's more of an optimization though. I don't personally use th

What about state within a component? How do you encapsulate that state so that other components can't muck with it? What about passing data to that component? What about type checking that data passed in in debug mode? What about a for

So https://productpains.com is entirely written in React and React Router (no Redux, yet). I have a few wrapper components that know how to fetch various datas (a product, post, etc). They then pass this data into their children

It's really up to you. It's a tradeoff between spending additional effort on dev ops now (rather than product) versus building the technical debt that will be converting your app over later. If everyone on your team knows Redux th

It doesn't scale because everyone knows it. It scales because React by nature isolates business logic into components so that for the most part 100 engineers can simultaneously work on the same product and be confident they aren't

If you don't need a server then React Native should basically be your entire stack. :) Since you do probably need a server, I don't have an incredibly educated answer for you but I use Node + Mongo on AWS because it's cheap,

I don't recommend learning Redux the first weekend you learn React. This would be akin to learning about Relativity the first weekend you learn Mechanics. I actually think it's detrimental to suggest beginners learn Redux alongsid

Not at all. In a ponzi scheme the later investors pay for the profits of the earlier investors. In this case Tesla is taking a loss on customers but turning a big profit in the long run regardless of whether later customers sign on.

I like your approach but a 95% tax rate is insane and would cause the market to be incredibly illiquid. Something like 50% to 0% seems a lot more appropriate.
