While I think Apple's rules are ridiculous, it is pretty standard in the industry. AirBnB doesn't allow hosts to accept cash or arrange alternative payment. Amazon doesn't allow suppliers to offer direct sales to potential cu

Reminds me of when the full-scale invasion started in Ukraine, I was in Kharkiv, and I met several people for whom "this was not their first war". The neighbour's family was from Nagorno-Karabakh, and had just fled the Armeni

Brilliant. Bravo. Well said. Look at the companies in any recent YC batch and it’s mostly just a long list of ridiculously simple SaaS ideas that anyone who knows how to use a spreadsheet doesn’t need. It’s amazing that so much money and ta

I don’t get it. Can’t you just upload the data to an anonymous GitHub repo or other public service? Have a predetermined prefix for the repo name and you can pull it from the firehouse.

This is a mathy solution to a CS problem. I would’ve preferred the route to a more CS-ey solution using bit shifts and recursion. Teaches an understanding of low level representations.

Yes, that’s the point. Profit is more important than human well-being, beauty, culture, or anything else. It’s why I love the moderation of Europe, though even the EU is over-capitalized, hence I chose Ukraine.

I don’t care whether you call it the “opposite of progress” or “less optimized” or whatever. In my experience day-to-day life is just better and everything is cheaper and more enjoyable when it is NOT highly optimized in favor of megacorps

The point about having an economically viable use-case is very relevant in today's times. The Romans didn't need engines because they had slaves. I have a hunch that the abundance of "VC money" and high cost of living in

The US may not want an artillery war, but the US needs to inspire confidence among partners and allies, and this sort of manufacturing failure really sends a bad signal. No wonder half of Africa is turning away from US/Western partners
