Not a containers expert and I never used docker swarm, but I will still go with Nomad for container orchestration over Kubernetes anytime I can, gets the job done with minimal fuss.

I think the search terms were being sent by unity and not Ubuntu itself, I haven't used Ubuntu for years(I find it a bit bloated) but I remember reading that Unity was discontinued so it should not be a problem with another desktop env

Waterfall seems more like a factory assembly line to me, on each step someone will add a component and at the end you will have the full product, its just in software usually you don't know what the end product should be when you begin
