That's not actually the case for a market of any scale. More like 1000 providers / market. :) Also, routing optimization is a fairly hard problem and requires significant critical mass in a geo. Pretty hard for individual service

I don't think so. Being rich/connected is great, but there's a third option: Show early traction. Absent other advantages, you will need to get to product-market fit pretty quickly if you want to survive.
