One method would be to setup a normal email address (even something like gmail) and on the server setup a cron job that connects to it via imap and downloads the messages. Probably not the nicest solution, but it might be easiest.

I just run Plex Media Server and set it up to rescan whenever it detects changes to the folder. Then I can use any of their clients to stream the content on my network. Mine is on the Mac but they do have a beta client for linux.

It's worth noting since iOS 5 and 10.7, Apple includes the NSJSONSerialization class which I've seen to be much faster than 3rd party libs, and are now "the way" to decode JSON in obj-c. As far as using something like JSON (in a general key

I started programming with PHP, and I was easily able to apply all that knowledge of (rather basic) web-dev to the CLI. If I need a quick script my first instinct (besides bash) would be to fire up TextMate and write some PHP. As a beginner

I started in the mmorpg server-emu "scene". Stuff like World of Warcraft servers, etc. At that point I knew just basic HTML before jumping in. There were some people offering to make login, registration scripts, etc. for server websites.

I use Markdown everywhere . Including places that don't even support it. My goal is to use it so much that it just makes sense for web-developers to implement it everywhere. Ideally replacing BBCode and such for forums.

Second, I wouldn't say AWS is unreliable. First, I've emailed the Netflix team before. I emailed a whole bunch of different people on the team about some technical ideas and issues I had with the service. Without a single reply.

My two cents: everyone is making this a big deal, and it isn't. 37signals is respected, and they do great work. For a startup trying to get funding, a few images and a layout goes a long way, especially if it's just a small team of devs wit
