Most people have realized this - either explicitly or intuitively - over the last 10 years. Those cheap android phones and lower-end Windows laptops are so cheap because they are subsidized from the revenue they bring in via data collection

I think what many miss is that Music Theory is designed to be after the fact. It seeks to explain - after a piece has already been written - why something works harmonically / rhythmically / etc. It has no prescriptive power, it w

For reference, I had that exact same issue on my MBA - went on for years. Many times while watching youtube or doing something Garageband related. At the time I had 10.11 on it, but that OS had itself been upgraded from 10.10. When 10.12 ca

I completely agree. Also try not paying your property taxes, see how long you own that land. These types of concessions wind up creeping into "free societies" as economic interest buy laws to help create monopolies.

Fair enough. Yet I think you must ask yourself: Why does something become a successful meme? I would argue that memes are, in effect, a form of data compression that condenses a (A) wide scope of information, that (B) many people feel is tr

I'm sympathetic to that idea and feel like it could potentially hold a lot of weight, yet Tim did turn the tech juggernaut he was bequeathed into a watch band and sticker company.

If you can't sell something you own, then you don't own it. Being free to dispose of property how you see fit has been a foundation of common law for a few centuries.

Being on a board of an angel-investment group we see this regularly. Its many times humorous - to the point of absurdity. You would be surprised at how many "inventors" want to ask for money, yet are scared of revealing how their

Sure. Everyone knows about the embedded line. However, MS makes it very difficult to acquire and manage those products. Generally speaking, you must buy their embedded products with a motherboard/cpu purchase from an authorized vendor.

I think you must differentiate between a general purpose OS and a single-purpose OS. Why isn't XP good enough to run a map kiosk in a mall? Or flight arrivals screen in the airport? Face it, the needs of many single-use applications

How much carbon was created digging up all that earth? Was that earth also dug up with battery powered trucks? Transported on battery powered ships? By the way, why does Singapore grade Tesla as a super-polluter category?

What about digging up 100 million tons of earth to get enough lithium to make a battery for your electric car which is powered by coal? Fake environmentalist love Elon - no reason why they won't like this.
