Syntax colouring would greatly improve readability. I completely understand author's frustration. Modern language is done once there is something like ReSharper for it. Rust is far from being done.

Yes, I guess the biggest problem is that writing JS manually is still mainstream. Perhaps browsers should somehow detect such code and forbid/warn it as unsafe.

All I am saying is it's better to communicate along the lines of "let's also explore this way of building games" rather than "nobody is doing anything worth looking at, garbage collection is a no go, too much safety

I am unsure of his rhetoric: "...everything we can do to move forward in games... (1:41)". He is not a messiah, it's already happening, people are using C#, Scala, Python, Haxe, Elm, Rust, D, Haskell to move game programming

It sort of happens for freelancers in UK. Recruiter gets the cut of what employer is paying, frequent job changes are very likely (2 years in a "worst" case) so good candidates are worth taken care of.
