Minor (and probably not intentional) thing I like - comments are loaded manually rather than by default on page load. For more popular blogs/sites that have comments on posts like Slate Star Codex or Less Wrong, there can be literally

I'd also like to know the reasoning behind this. It seems like every reason behind supporting decentralized communities would lend one to also support decentralized financial infrastructure like cryptocurrencies. Also strange that one

Go, according to its creator Rob Pike: "The key point here is our programmers are Googlers, they’re not researchers. They’re typically, fairly young, fresh out of school, probably learned Java, maybe learned C or C++, probably learned

It's seriously astonishing how much progress has been made in the past few years regarding gaming on Linux. When I first made the jump to using Linux as a daily driver circa 2016, I had to keep a Windows partition to be able to play an

Unfortunately the upcoming legislation doesn't make psilocybin available to casually try out - it won't be available for over-the-counter purchase like marijuana/alcohol, but rather during therapy sessions with a therapist sp

Further down the thread he mentions that no order gets executed, he's just querying. I guess still making trouble for anyone using that data, but at least nothing's going to waste.

One of the few things I find to be an unrelenting pain in the ass about Discord as an unfamiliar user is account management - is my account tied to the server I've joined? Is it tied to my email? If I click a link to join a server and

I've come to the conclusion that the discrete interface of the keyboard and keypresses meshes well with the discrete nature of text versus the analog control the mouse gives. When selecting by individual characters/lines, I'd

Incredibly tonedeaf on part of the University - they claim to fight for those that are marginalized, but how will the Chinese international students on campus feel, now that a precedent has been set that they'll have to think twice bef

I'm anxious to see what kind of macro trends arise from this, if it's still a popular policy post-pandemic. I'd predict that most industry jobs being remote by default would inevitably lead to a race to the bottom for wages,

As a college student just entering the job market, this trend will be an absolute nightmare if it continues to its natural terminus (all tech companies permanently and primarily WFH). My current internship has been WFH for the past ~2 month

Learning about this trope has, to some effect, ruined some movies for me. The most recent example I can think of is (spoilers?) Once Upon a Time In Hollywood. As soon as I saw DiCaprio's character putting a flamethrower away into his s

I cannot recommend Spacemacs enough. I was a pretty dedicated Vim user for years but grew tired of the brittle tooling and subpar extensibility and decided to give Emacs a try. My first experience with Emacs was dreadful - the default keybi

It's ridiculous that end users should rely on third parties for reliable documentation. For any other tool, if you wanted to know this kind of builtin functionality it'd be readily accessible in --help, the man page, or first-part
