I lived in a state that doesn’t do the daylight saving time change and it was wonderful. No messed up sleep and no changing clocks. Really the only problem is that I would forget that my family and friends in other states were now suddenl

This is awesome! Severance is such an incredible show. Just so much attention to detail everywhere. I wonder how hard it would be to make a working Macro Data Refinement terminal.

I see a lot of people requesting cellular modems in MacBooks, but the integration with iPhone hotspot connectivity is so good that I don’t really see the point of it for most people.

Good point, I forgot about that. Maybe it just got really delayed in production.

It is a bit misleading to do that, but in fairness to Apple, almost nobody is upgrading to this from an M4 Mac, so those are probably more useful comparisons.

Interesting that they’re releasing M3 Ultra after the M4 Macs have already shipped. I wonder if the plan is to only release Ultras for odd number generations.

SwiftUI is excellent on iOS if you stay on the happy path. On macOS it needs a bit of work to get good results. It also has a built in escape hatch to UIkit when needed.

Abortion is literally the opposite of reproduction, so I agree it’s an inappropriate euphemism.

MSFS on the X Box Series S/X is incredible. It even supports joysticks. There’s just something about flying over cities you’ve been to and seeing them so realistically rendered. There are definitely some glitches, but overall it is

Not only that, but most people who do a lot of woodworking have both a drill and an impact driver that they switch between as necessary.

In Apple's defense, they tend to have web versions of most of their iCloud services. They even recently released a web version of Apple Maps.

What's preventing Google from competing and making their own better version of this? I don't see where there's anything that Apple is doing here that couldn't be easily replicated by them using their own ecosystem.

I got an Atari Gamestation Pro for Christmas and it just amazes me how well a lot of those old 2600 games hold up. My kids have had a blast playing Pong, Warlords, Bowling, and Outlaws with me. https://myarcade.com/products

Hiring artists is still a cost and potential time sink, for a game done in your free time that is really unlikely to turn a profit. Generative AI is free and takes just a few minutes.

by _mlbt 2y ago
That is great if your idea for a game or other product only requires those already existing assets. However, what about assets that don't already exist? You would have to commission an artist to create them, which costs money that yo

This is an unpopular opinion on here, but generative AI is getting very good. I think it will soon be the way non artists create art assets for a variety of purposes. It’s not perfect yet, but it’s rapidly improving.

By what metric is Apple poorly run other than some HN commenters personal opinions about their products?
