10 years at FAANG companies, laid off, now considering classical guitar conservatory + indie dev ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Really look forward to this every year, Timac is a legend. The rate of SwiftUI adoption and decrease in UIKit-only binaries feels significant. Thanks!

Oh absolutely agreed. It's a process to work with a psychiatrist, and if it is ADHD, medication isn't right for everyone.

Speaking as someone whose partner is a psychiatrist, popping in to echo that 1) it may or may not be ADHD, 2) only a doctor 1:1 can diagnose you, and 3) if it is, medication works wonders for many people.

Keeping TikTok around. It’s actually a very good platform, just needs major damage control on trust and privacy.

Highly recommend the documentary “Goodnight, Brooklyn” if anyone loves indie/punk music and is still unconvinced of how hypocritical Vice is. It shows the artist space Death By Audio being forced out as Vice sets up their new HQ in Wil

Call me crazy, but I’d love to see Apple acquire ByteDance. They’re the only company that I feel the public trusts with privacy, have the same level of cachet, operate globally, and don’t have a social media arm.

The YouTube videos and screenshots look incredible for a hobby project! Are you still working on it? What’s next?

Love this show! The quality of the interviews reminds me of Narduar, who does incredible background research before interviewing musicians. Highly recommended if you like that aspect of Hot Ones

:D So happy to hear! It’s definitely built for the no-distractions mindset. Great idea to update for PNLs!

Thank you!! Is the problem that it's too easy to tap Theme, and it's annoying to then cycle through all?

Thanks! Hope it sticks for you. To replace my paper bullet journal, I wanted to stay far away from social, subscriptions, notifications, etc etc.

Thanks, I'd love to open-source it someday! It's a beautiful mess.

100% up to you. All of my habits are different, but usually for me it’s something like “I did it / I did it well / I did it great”.

Awesome!! Thanks for finding that, I was wondering where the (very few) daily crashes are coming from. And thanks, hope it’s useful for you!

Hm, I’m not sure what adds up to 25MB but overall it’s very lean on dependencies - essentially just RxSwift. It might also be the Swift runtime, which used to be bundled into binaries before ABI stability.

Thanks so much - you’re right, I think it’s about time to finally create a product page. Also thanks for the pointer, the everyday calendar looks great!

Wow, thank you! It’s been years since I’ve touched the app, and I would’ve sworn it already did that. Will dust it off!

Apologies if this is uncouth, but if anyone wants the opposite of this product, check out Pixelist on the App Store: it’s a 100% free and private, extremely minimalist habit tracker. I’m terrible at marketing (my Show HN had zero response)

I’m taking some time to study classical guitar with a private teacher at ~conservatory level. Feels like my form of “quitting tech to work on a farm”. I’ll also work on my own personal projects and see if any of them can gain enough momentu

Came to say the same thing - plus, there's a great 100 Days of SwiftUI as well, which gets nontrivial apps running pretty quickly.

Hey, this is really cool! Coincidentally I’ve been doing something really similar with `alias j=‘make -f ~/Makefile’` for a single giant makefile across multiple projects; I also combine it with fzf to allow fuzzy-searching for target

I helped build V1 of https://www.balanceapp.com as part of a small team. Meditation is a super crowded space, but it’s a lifestyle habit that I really believe in. Proud that it’s reached a fair number of people, even if it isn’t
