The word “quasi-intellectuals” is accurate. I’d even go as far as calling them pseudo-intellectuals. Very few people here know what they’re talking about. That goes for you too.

That's the point. Lillium is also battery powered. It will have minutes of runtime in all likelihood.

All VTOL aircraft have the same issue: Insane energy consumption. There's a reason why quadcopters have flight times measured in minutes, and why helicopters never came close to displacing small aircraft. This will be no different.

Absolutely not. Airplanes have to be aerodynamic, and it would be incredibly challenging to make the entire bottom portion of the plane something that can open up and fit a giant battery. Never mind the weight of the whole system plus batte

Long-distance battery airplanes are literally impossible. If you don't agree with hydrogen powered aircraft, you are advocating for conventional airplanes forever.

Worth pointing out that Dennard scaling has long since ended. Architecture design is just as important for reducing power consumption as the process node. Arguably, even more so.

The author is not doing a good job of differentiating ordinary ray tracing with path tracing. It is path tracing that actually gives all of those wonderful render effects "for free." Ray tracing by itself isn't that impress

Lithium batteries are extremely flammable. Worse, fires are extreme hard to extinguish. For trains this would be a truly huge fire. Converting methane into hydrogen is known as steam reformation. We can easily due this, but we don't wa

Give it another decade. PWAs will only get better and more integrated. PWAs could still kill off native apps eventually.

Even for transistor density, it isn’t quite true. The transistors aren’t getting any smaller like they use to. A lot of growth now involves stacking transistors on top of each other. 3D transistors lets you pack more of them closer together

We live in a world where absurdly powerful VLSIs sell for a just few hundred dollars per unit. You don't need to think very hard to realize that all of that stuff cost next to nothing to manufacture.

With finFETs the transistors are not physically getting smaller anymore. Instead, by making taller and taller finFETs, you can squeeze the transistors closer without actually having smaller transistors. By some definitions, you can say Moor
