I absolutely agree though, this argument is extremely weak, like a developer being asked to step outside their comfort zone locking up and declaring something unknowable levels of complexity so they don't even have to try. The GDPR is

I feel like the Android (and iOS) gaming market is filled with the kind of game that give you early successes followed by soulcrushing wait times bypassed through paywalls that can soak up infinite amounts of cash and therefore I have not g

It is interesting which special cases are explicitly noted in the GDPR (credit scoring for instance) and which classes of data are specially protected (political alignment, medical data) - and where the lobbying shines through by omission.

I don't know where your actual problem is. The GDPR allows holding data for most of these purposes. You intermingled legal obligations with data legal departments would like to hold in the end there. Only one of those is required. Also

It's an illusion of choice. I go wherever my community goes. I've tried boycotting Discord and it just made me miserable and isolated.

My problems don't really matter here, where most of my community moves does. And lots of them seem to think the fediverse is to complicated, some that sign up just put the local part of their username into places.

If anything, the GDPRs wording of "legitimate interest" makes it too weak, where corporations can justify every use of data that makes them money as legitimate until a court stops them, as happened to Facebook very recently over a

This sounds like a feature that would be more useful in Germany, where the percentage of renewables varies wildly by time of day. Also, I hate the carbon footprint framing, a concept invented by fossil fuel companies to direct attention awa

The "MSG bad" crowd is so localized, Nongshim makes a special version of their Shin Ramyun with no MSG for the US and another one for everywhere else. Your guess which one tastes better.

I found that at least one of the big 3 artificial sweeteners tastes bad / bitter to everyone, but which one is not consistent. This is the reason a lot of foods now use a blend in an effort to "normalize" the aftertaste.

I get this solely based on the texture of my teeth after a sugary drink, but the US using HFCS instead of real sugar might contribute to that larger difference too.

The most obvious instance of this is probably the Comet 1. It took about 3000 cycles (about half of them simulated in a tank) to reproduce the catastrophic failure.

You misunderstand my point. A BS job wasn't necessary in the first place, so it's unlikely to be replaced by GPT. The market is pretty bad at optimizing the amount of labor large corporations need, and this isn't going to cha

Ah, we've reached the great replacement. No, it is not. Populations naturally evolve, but they never spontaneously evolve to whatever your arbitrary definition of pure white is. Nobody is orchestrating this, and "white" peopl

"America is a nation of immigrants" isn't an appeal here, it's a statement of fact. Ethnic homogeneity, by any definition of white, would require removal of very large parts of the population.

White nationalists are usually ethnostate advocates with a veneer of "peaceful displacement" - a thing that doesn't exist. When pressed, their ideology always turns into white supremacy, genocide or both.
