I wonder what would result out of the opposite concept - enforce a minimum of characters per post. Of course, no longer being a quick release for vapidity, such a social network would be doomed to fail, but the outcome might be interesting

Everyone is derivating from Metro UI now. I can't complain, I quite like the look. Funny that Microsoft, in this day an age would be such a trend setter!

Forget about the rescue party, there isn't even ever bulletproof intelligence to justify the first drone strike, due to the way targets are acquired. This is well documented, and a serious source of controversy. https://fi

Microsoft has a competitive advantage in the Android market because they're the only manufacturer that doesn't have to pay Microsoft $15 in Android licencing costs for each device released. (Actually, does that still hold true..

Then, too, unlike other languages that frequently attract veteran programmers rather than newbies, CL doesn't appear utterly baffling to an initiate.

We already know of the cost of plastic pollution, just do a freaking Google search. From there it's easy to weigh down the payoff vs. cost. (If you're too lazy to do, yes, reducing plastic pollution will save a good deal of wildli

I think app-like interfaces on the web are a pipe dream at this point, anyways. Attempts to emulate native interfaces inevitably get stuck in a java-like uncanny valley that's nearly as hard to get out of as it would be rewriting nati

It's not functional in the same vein as Haskell, but it is in the same vein as a lisp. Essentially, JS is an application of the lambda calculus.

Well, this shows the legislation is broken. Uber drivers can work without having to pay for medallions/licenses/what have you, and having to fulfill cumbersome regulations. If you rule they get a pass, then so should the cab drive

Perhaps facing a crisis is what low-quality colleges need. The current system is a failure. It doesn't make sense that in an age where so many top-end study materials are available so ubiquitously, easily, and much cheaper than ever (e

After seeing some demos of the new UI features in Isis, which are pretty original and amazing, I don't think it's copying OSX any more than the later and iOS are copying Microsoft's modern UI with Yosemite.

Where do you get from that 'fat has always been fine'? It's been the target of demonization by trendy dietitians for essentially the second half of the 20th century. This article on the subject made it to the top of HN a whil

Not to mention that Beats' business would be shooting itself in the foot by locking their products to working with iDevices only. I mean, you wouldn't even be able to jack them to your Mac! This is the worst idea ever!

How sad to hear this. As he dies, the design principles he championed are taking over the interface design world with a vengeance. The visual language in iOS 7, Windows 8 Modern UI, and even Google Now owes a lot to designers like him. Rest

That sort of naive techno-utopian response isn't helpful at all in the face of reality. We lack the ability to stop the degradation of our current environment. That doesn't bring high hopes that we could undertake the exponentiall
