Honestly, I'm not surprised. As Robert Griesemer, one of the core Go team members, confirmed the other week in his GopherCon talk "The Evolution of Go", Go inherited a lot of concepts from Oberon. Oberon is from the Wirth fam

I'm not saying either of them is better because or the amount of people they attracted. I merely ask why Go managed to interest more people than Lisp in an order of magnitude of time less.

I don't think you understand what average resp. median age means. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_median_... Japan and Germany are the ones with highest median age.

Salmon and oysters used to be poor people's food in lots of European countries, as well. Tastes and fashions change.

Well, if that is true, then why is German statistically the country with the highest average age in the world (on par with Japan), even though their food is quite bland?

You should rather ask yourself why Lisp hasn't been able to attract the same large and active community in 5 decades that Go has been able to attract in 5 years.

You confuse parametric polymorphism with reusability. The former is merely one of several ways to achieve the latter. The Go way for reusability usually consists of interfaces.

"Mental retardation" has been a medical term since relatively recently. The "retardation" means nothing more than "being held back". But people did pick it up as a derogatory term, and so it was replaced with &

Facebook is operating in Germany, among other countries. If they want to earn money in Germany, they need to obey to German laws and regulations, obviously.

Also, euphemism treadmill. "Retard" in the context of medication means that a drug is slowly and continously released into the bloodstream.

No, there's been a concentration of construction-related scandals with corruption, bribery, etc. in Berlin over the last 40 to 50 years.

The point I'm trying to make is that you can develop and debug Go code perfectly fine without a debugger, as shown by the large-scale deployments of software written in Go. Not adding Go to your tech stack because of that is... not ver

I think you should ask yourself how all these tech companies that use Go in production ever reached the confidence to use Go in production without a "proper" debugger available.
