Thank you for adding the nuance to the conversation, although I would have liked some elaboration on that. Indian IITs (and other double-I institutions or similar) offer official certificates after MOOCs [0] and they are valued in regular c

YouTube + a maintained webpage with slides, assignments, problem sets, midterm and final papers etc. is a fine combination. MIT OCW is great in this regard. But can't say that I didn't appreciate the interactive quizzes in MOOC p

This makes sense. But if we start benchmarking the effects of anything against its its Sillicon Valley-flavored hype, then, every tech/X-train will be judged as underwhelming, not reaching its "potential".

> MOOCs never achieved the transformative potential promised during the early hype. I don't get this gloom and doom about MOOCs. A substantial amount of people have transformed their lives by learning from MOOCs. I am one of them.

Reminds me of a project [0] that we spun up in a few days in a hackathon. We finetuned CLIP to be able to work with satellite imagery. Inference was extremely fast. [0]: https://github.com/arampacha/CLIP-rsicd

It is just Horn Please. OK is a historical artefact. During WW2, due to fuel shortages, Indian trucks often switched to Kerosene. OK means: "On Kerosene". OK was painted on the back of trucks and other vehicles to warn other drive

Oh, that makes sense. Ubuntu releases LTS versions every two years. I jump from LTS to LTS by simple `do-release-upgrade` command. Takes about 30 minutes. And I only upgrade after the dust settles, i.e. after 3-4 months of the release. Mint

I just have seamless experience with Ubuntu. Wdym about LTS not being ideal for NVIDIA? The OS receives updates, NVIDIA drivers also do. What is the problem? Am I missing something?

I am using Discord in Firefox for years without any issues. I also created a container for it after containers became a thing. I use Discord only for programming groups, study groups, etc. Not for games or in-game chatting.

What stops you from dual-booting? You use Windows for games, and only games. For everything else , you use Linux. This is a practical setup.

Linux Mint remains the most stable, least babysitting required, solid distro for beginners. Ubuntu is also okay. Pop, Zorin, Elementary, etc. are great choices, too. But if you ask me one , I will suggest Linux Mint. All Linux Mint release
