(eclipse+pydev - for the IDE part) + mypy (better dmypy for performance) + ruff (both as linter and as formatter) is the way I go. an in my pyproject I set the strict mode for mypy, and almost all rules for rust with extend-select

FYI: required fields were re-introduced in protobuf. why? because despite what the gobs team and others thinks, that is a necessary feature to work with data structures. If "everything is optional", what is the value of any struct

what? `any` - the builtin function[0] is part of python since the dawn of time but from what I know is not usable as a type annotation, and `typing.Any` should be used (and imported explicitly) [0] https://docs.python.org/3&
