Why do calendar apps and todo list apps make millions even though you have Google Calendar and Apple Reminders? There are plenty of opportunities for building a good product even if the big platform copies you. For example in this case I ca

This story sounds like Soviet bureaucracy on its last legs. Very real impending fall-of-an-empire vibes.

For me, the benefit was simple: I blocked off ssh and Postgres on my production server from the public internet, making it such that these are only accessible from my development machine and other servers. Yet from inside the tailnet I can

This is a No True Scotsman fallacy. If America, the #1 champion of free market capitalism cannot get it right, then it may be impossible. Communists claimed the same: they say it didn't work because we haven't tried "true com

Way too little information on the homepage. Does this handle pagination? What about sites behind authentication? I assume the generated API is stable, i.e. the shape of the JSON will not change after a scraper is built, but what if the site

The main issue I had with TurboLinks and similar hacks was that it broke scripts like the Stripe SDK which expected to be loaded exactly once. If you preloaded a page with the Stripe SDK and then navigated away, your browser console would b

Chase just ships broken APIs. I work with Chase APIs every day through Plaid and Akoya. There are a whole list of ongoing known issues, from duplicates, to missing transactions. JPMorgan doesn’t know how to or doesn’t want to ship a proper

I don’t understand people who defend porn access. Porn is an addictive behavior with measurable effects on the brain similar to hard drugs. We regulate gambling, paid access to porn is worse. Furthermore it is fraught with misogyny and expl

This is on us, as software “engineers” for not having standards that may be used to regulate software development. There are building codes, fire codes, but no software codes.

In several cases during World War II, the Allies intentionally allowed German attacks to happen (or did not act to prevent them) to avoid revealing that they had cracked German codes, particularly the Enigma cipher.

The entire point of AI Agents is that they should "just work" for websites that don't have APIs. Lots of websites simply have no incentive or resources to provide a good API.

The ability to port existing apps to serverless. See for example Wordpress in WASM.

Closest thing to true “serverless”: entire MVC app (Django/Rails/Laravel) in the browser with WASM and data persistence by SQLite over CDN. All the server has to do then is serve binaries, all the business logic is in the client.
