You know, searching from the location bar in Firefox has worked for a couple of years now. I use both fields, depending on what I'm currently doing.

You are allowed to express your opinion. Your comment is still here. People dislike it (to the point of considering it trolling, it would seem) and downvote you, though.

The Italian Wikipedia was blacked out for such a proposal earlier. The rest of the European Wikipedias could do the same.

"Megaupload on the other hand is a company whose sole purpose it to assist pirates." This is not true. While pirates may have been a large share of their customers, many people also used the service to transfer files that are too large to b

I would love if they provided some daily, or even live statistics. How much space and bandwidth are these videos consuming? Seeing this printed on a graph for the last 24 hours, month and year would be interesting too.

I trust my VPN-provider when I ask them explicitly if they keep _any_ logs at all, and they reply no. They are not required to do so by law (yet, at least), where I live.

That's why you use a VPN-service, which doesn't keep any logs.

Fair point. I didn't see it that way, but yes, I promise never to use it again. (Heh, promises over the Internet, you rarely see those. I intend to keep mine, though.)

Oh yes, if they were backups it's all good. But the impression I got was that some people had their _only_ copy of certain files stored there.

They don't have the shady history that Megaupload did, and appear to actually comply with DMCA-requests. That will hopefully keep them safe for a while. If it doesn't, hosting files for "everyone" is a doomed business.

Downvote me if you feel like it, but I'm honest when I say I enjoyed this article, and the way it was written. Sometimes, it just doesn't have to be fully serious to make a point.

If they don't happen to have some condition which makes them hard to use for your situation, I would recommend http://www.mediafire.com . I've not used them as an uploader myself, but to me they seem to have the cleanest, most modern inter

I can excuse them for the "association with illegal activity"-part, but having only one copy of your data, located on such a site, or in the cloud at all, is very risky. It will be interesting to see how the feds handle this one, considerin

While it's a bad way to protest in many ways, I somehow feel that it's pretty fair considering that Megaupload was taken down without a trial. Both sides taking the laws in their own hands, except that the media industry gets away with it.

You might want to see my post below (or above, if the votes move it around). I don't have any issues with distribution as a business model, but essentially due to ideological reasons, I don't believe it should be primarily focused on illega

Oh, I see. Thank you for pointing that out to me. My intention was to say that I do not believe that you should create a business-model around earning money on only pirated content. Helping artists getting their name and songs out there is

Am I being downvoted because people think you should be able to earn money on pirated content, or because you think they should operate such sites at a loss (if at all)?

Indeed, when a site built around (partially) illegal content being shared, it's OK with me if they earn just enough not to lose money on operating the site. However, I do not believe you should profit off the content of others.

OCD is certainly playing a role here. I can't leave my computer with e-mails unread, for example. I feel the "fear of missing out" as well, which is probably because I have started to build my life around knowing everything that's going on

I must say, as a European this was pretty annoying to read. While a few of the points were valid, for example, that not depending on organisations in the US (ICANN) as much as we do today is a good thing, this will still affect us as the re
